Slow Dancin with My Baby

Corey and Nevaeh attended Cedar Ridge Christian Church's "Father & Daughter Dance" last night. The theme was "Pretty in Pink". Corey said it was decorated awesome and there was a DJ, snacks and professional photos. It was so cute watching him put her coat on to leave and pose for pictures knowing that they were on their way off for their first formal date. Corey said that she danced her little heart out. She clapped and copied everyone around her. She even joined the dance "train". She had a lot of fans. He came back with pictures of her with a bunch of different little girls, all taking turns holding her and dancing with her. Corey said it was so awesome and something he will look forward to doing every year. When she gets a little older, he's going to take her on weekly dates. Nevaeh was so exhausted when she got home. She went right to bed and slept waayyy in the next morning. What lovely dreams she must have had. What wonderful memories they made!

On their way!
Dancin Queen!

She's got the moves!

All danced out! Sweet Dreams!

Sweet Uncle

My Precious Uncle Ralph and his Beautiful wife Quanah

My uncle gave us quite a scare this week. He is the man that walked me down the aisle. He is just an awesome man of God and he means so much to so many people. He was having symptoms of a heart attack and checked into the hospital in Albuquerque. They did a CAT Scan (i think that's what it was) and he wasn't having a heart attack but his symptoms were the same. They went to his doctor in Lubbock, TX the next day and found out it was his pace maker acting up. Anyway, everything is okay now. Thank God! My uncle Ralph if the joker of the family but he is also so loving and wonderful. I'm so thankful that he is okay!

I've Been Tagged!
Ok, my friend Dawn has tagged me so I guess now I'm supposed to tell you 7 unusual things about me.

1. I have really curly, frizzy hair. Most people probably think my hair is straight and almost black. However, I love to color my hair lots of different ways and I straighten it most of the time to calm it down. I wear it curly occasionally but it's usually when I am running late.

2. I was the valedictorian of my senior class. Crazy huh? Some people like to tease me that I had a small class so it wasn't hard to be the smart one. I disagree-in a small town we all had nothing to do but school work and perfecting sports. So, there were lots of smart and athletic people. Unfortunately, as you get older, if you don't exercise your brain, you get dumber. That's what happened to me- if you were wondering. I need to start reading encyclopedia's so I can catch back up.

3. I have a bachelors degree in communications and business and used to be an event planner. I used to plan fund raising events for a couple of non-profits (Heart to Heart International and Muscular Dystrophy Association). We raised hundreds of thousands of dollars at some of these events and it was a pretty great feeling. After that, I finally decided to get my cosmetologist license (my true career calling). I loved that so much, but then I had a baby, and now I stay at home with my daughter (my true life calling). So all that school and school loans and I'm just at home-funny huh?!

4. I love chewing bubble gum. I like the big gumballs that are shaped like different fruit. I like to chew it until the sugar is all gone then get a new one. Bad for my teeth and body-I know. I think it's my cigarettes:-)

5. I hardly ever cook the same thing twice. I love to cook and usually do meal plans for two weeks at a time. Once I made a 3 month meal plan for my sister and I with all the recipes included. Of course, I only used it once. I love looking through recipe books and finding new ones and trying them out on my hubby. He is so not picky that it makes it easy for me. Although, he's always asking for things I made a while back but by then I've forgotten what they were or where the recipes are.

6. I used to sing in country music shows all over Kansas and Missouri. When I came to college in Kansas, I started auditioning and soon started singing at these shows/opry's on Saturday nights. I loved it-live band, sparkly costumes, the lights-Big high! I even had 8x10 posters that I signed autographs on for the fans. When I met Corey, he came to watch me a few times-then we stared planning other things for Saturdays and I just kind of faded out of it. I miss it sometimes although I know that was just a phase of my life and it's not for me now. Crazy! I've been singing on worship teams now for the last 9 years instead. Much more for me now at this age! and stage of my life.

7. I'm sorry to admit this, but I love watching "the Young and Wrestless" and "Days of Our Lives". Total crap-I know. But every once in a while I turn it on to see what the story line is now. I usually get hooked and have to break myself from it all over again. It's another addiction of mine-someone help me!!!!

Okay, so maybe those aren't that unusual but that's all I could think of. Am I supposed to tag other people now? I think all my friends have been tagged by other people??????????

Sketti

Nevaeh just loves spaghetti, as you can see. She likes to decorate my whole kitchen with it actually. She also loves oatmeal! Of course, she doesn't want any help so lately I've been cleaning up BIG messes. I'll post more tonight-just wanted to show grandparents these pics!

I just talked to Emily and they are just past Atlanta, Georgia. They expect to arrive "home" around 4:30pm. She said that yesterday was long and hard. The kids did good but the last 20 or so minutes they were all just "done". She had a hard time leaving her daddy and he had just as hard a time telling her goodbye. Emily says she misses everyone already. Hang in there Em-we are all praying for you!

Dearest Friend

Me and EmilyKeith and Corey
Keith and CoreyKeith and Emily's little darlins (Caedmon, Milo and Hadley)

One of my dearest friends, Emily, is moving tomorrow and I'm feeling so terribly sad. The selfish part of me wants them to stay, but I know God has big plans for them in Florida.

After we said our final goodbyes today, as I was sobbing into my husbands chest, I told him that Emily and I had become such close friends that we talked on the phone several times a day-she knows everything about me and what I'm going through right now. She knows the most negative side of me and loves me just the same and she knows my best side and is always building me up. I feel like she is the person God gave to me after my sister moved away, to help me cope. Now I feel like a sister is moving away again.
My husband said "maybe someone in Florida needs Emily even more than you do". Wow, could that be possible:-) If so, I am so glad for the friends that will meet Emily. I hope they realize how blessed they are!

I know we will probably still talk on the phone everyday and visit from time to time, but who will cut her bangs:-) and how will I kiss Milo's chubby cheeks. It's there bright smiling faces that I will miss the most. As you can see in the picture, Emily has a giant, contagious smile. And I will miss sitting together and just venting to each other. There is something refreshing about just unloading on a friend who loves you unconditionally, never makes you feel judged and who feels close enough to you to unload in return.

Even with the sadness, I am so excited for everything that awaits Emily in Florida. A new start, change, adventure, excitement and the chance to add new friends to her long list of people who love her. I know Keith has been hoping for this for a long time and even though my husband will also miss him, we are so happy for this new stage. He deserves it. He's a good man and CCC is blessed to have such a person working for them. You can definitely see Gods hand in this whole thing (other than the movers-that might be someone else's hand:-)).

So, Emily-I love you. You hold a special place in my life and I hope that we will stay in close touch over the years. Thank you for the friend you've been to me! I am blessed! I hope I have been close to as good a friend to you. I will miss you!

Cold Basement

I am sitting in our cold basement with my feet freezing just to update you! Aren't I a sweetie. Yesterday was fabulous. For Christmas, Corey got me a deluxe facial, including scalp, face, neck, hand and arm massage, and even scheduled it for me. So I went yesterday and was in pampering heaven. Corey watched Nevaeh and when I cam home the house was all clean too! Do I have the best hubby in the world or what!

Today has been pretty low key-I went to the gym this morning and the rest of the day I've been trying to figure out this new digital picture frame from my in-laws. Got it working - it's cool! Tonight, we are going to my dear friends going away party. I hope I don't cry the whole time. I hope you are all having a fabulous day!
I just love this picture-it makes me want to squeeze and snuggle her!

Today

Well, my "about my baby" website has expired-so to keep all of you out-of-town friends and family updated on our little sweetie pie (and dad and mom too!), I started this fancy little blog. My friend, Emily, helped me get it started since I am technologically handicapped. I will try to update often (okay Summer) so that you can all stay involved with our lives even though we are so far away.

We live a pretty "low key" life so our news probably won't be that exciting but I know you family members want to hear anyway (one reason I love you all so much!). Today I just cleaned and played with Nevaeh. She got a little table with chairs from Santa so we've been coloring A LOT lately. She also loves to sit in my lap to look at books and she loves when I "get her" and eat her ribs! She is soooo ticklish! I've been amazed at everything she has been saying lately. Today she said "Caedmon" (my friends son's name) and when she dropped her snack she said "oh crap!"(I wonder where she heard that? She will count to 3 and jump and loves to dance her little bootie off-it's pretty hilarious to watch. Anyway, I hope you are all having a great day! I hope you enjoy our site.
